Whiskey Colorado says: Branch and Barrel is hosting an incredible opportunity for Whiskey Lovers this Sunday!  You’ll get to sample whiskey directly from the barrels and discuss their methodology for honing your palette and identifying the nuance found in each individual barrel.  The class is led by their “Barrel Selector” (sounds like a modest alternative for “Master Blender”).  Most whiskey drinkers never see what goes on behind the scenes during the maturation process and just assume that Distillers simply wait until a set number of years have passed and then bottle the whiskey.  In fact, Distillers who put out a quality whiskey track its' progress throughout maturation making decisions along they way about which barrels need more aging, which barrels will add characteristic flavors such as vanilla or caramel to the final blend, which barrels will add depth and richness, and which barrels can stand alone as a single barrel offering.  Each Distiller brings their own experiences and preferences to the process, which in addition to grain bills and the types of stills used helps create the diversity of Whiskey that we enjoy.  Don’t pass up this one of a kind experience, WhiskeyColorado will be there!
